Been a While. . .

With everything that's been going on, I'm afraid it's been quite a long time since I posted any updates here. Partly, it's been the state of the world, but it's also been that some of that energy's gone into publishing a mostly-monthly (I'm running late this month) newsletter called Crosshatches. That's been the venue I've been using to let people know what I've been up to, what's coming soon to Podside Picnic, and even the occasional book review (I'm quite fond of the one I wrote for Jared Pechaček's The West Passage). “Up In the Hills. . .” a Brave New Weird Award Winner!

A couple months back, "Up In the Hills, She Dreams of Her Daughter Deep In the Ground" was shortlisted for the Brave New Weird Award (run by Tenebrous Press - go, indie publishers!). Well, the news is out: my story won this year, and it's an honor to be in a table of contents with so many other amazing weirdos! Truly an honor! Shortlisted for Brave New Weird, Vol. 2

I learned that Up In the Hills, She Dreams of Her Daughter Deep In the Ground was included in the shortlist for the Brave New Weird, Vol. 2 today. I'm honored not only to have my work included such amazing company, but that this is the second year I've been a Brave New Weird nominee (Got Your Nose was shortlisted for Vol. 1). What a welcome bit of news - especially while I'm waiting for the Nebula nominations at the end of the month! Where To Find Me at Capclave 2023

Capclave is a small local convention that concentrates mostly on short fiction, held every October in Rockville, Maryland. This year, Capclave will be on September 29th - October 1st (they’ll be requesting proof of vaccination for all attendees). I’ve been going to Capclave since 2013, and it’s one of my favorite conventions (especially since it focuses on short fiction).
