Podside Picnic Bonus Episode Appearance

This past week, I was invited onto the Podside Picnic podcast. I talked about how Joe Haldeman’s seminal work, The Forever War is one of my favorite war novels precisely because it offers a grunt’s-eye view of war and the military (which I’ve blogged about before).

Connor and Pete asked some great questions, and I was also able to add to Connor’s sure-to-be-already-towering to be read list by suggesting some more recent sci-fi novels, including Sam J. Miller’s Blackfish City, Sarah Pinsker’s collection Sooner or Later Everything Falls Into the Sea, and her forthcoming novel Song for a New Day.

It was great to share how Haldeman’s book resonated with me, and how my experience in the Navy has shaped my worldview and parts of my writing. This was one of their premium episodes, so if you want to unlock it you’ll have to become a Patreon subscriber.
