Been a While. . .
With everything that’s been going on, I’m afraid it’s been quite a long time since I posted any updates here.
Partly, it’s been the state of the world, but it’s also been that some of that energy’s gone into publishing a mostly-monthly (I’m running late this month) newsletter called Crosshatches. That’s been the venue I’ve been using to let people know what I’ve been up to, what’s coming soon to Podside Picnic, and even the occasional book review (I’m quite fond of the one I wrote for Jared Pechaček’s The West Passage). Feel free to check it out, and if you’re moved to do so, please subscribe (full disclosure: the subscription is set to “pay what you want”).
Now for some news – last month, my oldest story that I was still submitting got published over at Cold Signal Magazine. A LIne of Ink, Stretching Back Like a Shadow appeared in Issue 3, with the theme of “Underworld”. My records indicate I first submitted A Line of Ink… in early 2013, but it may have been written the year before. That means this one took at least 12 years to find a home. Hell, when I qualified for SFWA (Science Fiction Writers Association) in 2016, I was so confident the story would get published soon that I named this website after it. So, if you ever wondered, mystery solved.
In any case, I’m still here – merely trying to navigate the ensuing chaos to which we’ve all been subjected. And while I’m unsure what will happen, I hope we can come out the other side of all of this relatively unscathed.
