News After a Long Time Away
Howdy, all. Yes, I’m still alive, but have neglected updating here. Some of the reasons for my time away have been my choice. For instance, one of the reasons I’ve not been updating as regularly is that I started a monthly-ish newsletter called Crosshatches which has diverted a lot of what I’d be writing here in a way that feels a bit more immediate and rewarding. The other issue that’s kept me away is the increase in workload and general stress this new administration’s created. I’m a federal employee, and since the beginning of 2025, the constant stress of not knowing if I would lose my job, adjusting to the return to office mandate (which we were required to adjust to on very short notice). And now, there’s the government shutdown and I’m not so sure when I’ll be getting my next paycheck.
This, too, shall pass they say.
Sadly, I’m not sure how long all of this will continue. Not long, I hope.
